Blake Corum Injury: Michigan Running Back Exits After Hit to Knee

University of Michigan star running back Blake Corum exited Saturday's game just before halftime with a severe-looking left knee injury.

Based on multiple video angles, the injury mechanism is consistent with an MCL sprain with a possible bone bruise, according to the Pro Football Docs.

Either way, he is likely to miss next week's massive matchup against No. 2 Ohio State.

Corum returned to the game against Illinois for one carry after halftime, but clearly could not cut using his left knee.

During warmups after halftime, he attempted to cut and came up limping.

By video, there is also a slight concern his MRI shows he suffered a torn ACL, according to the Pro Football Docs.

He reportedly underwent X-rays at the stadium before returning after half, but X-rays do not show damaged ligaments.

No college stadiums have MRI machines and he will likely undergo one on Sunday.

Corum has 16 carries for 95 yards and a touchdown in the first half. He also had 2 catches for 39 yards, plus a lost fumble. In the second half, he has just one carry for 5 yards.

C.J. Stokes will see increased carries as the primary backup going forward, while Donovan Edwards will also be in line for increased work.

Corum, the heartbeat of the Michigan offense, has rushed for 1,349 yards and 17 touchdowns this season on 227 attempts.

The rest of the running backs have combined for 922 yards on 148 carries.
