With the 2026 WNBA season now well underway, the race for playoff positioning is beginning to take shape, but so is the league's injury landscape. Every week, this column tracks the injuries that matter most, from lingering recoveries and newly sustained setbacks to workload management decisions and unexpected absences that impact rotations across the league. As contenders battle through adversity and others work to keep their stars on the floor, player availability continues to be one of the biggest factors shaping the championship race.
A'ja Wilson - C, Las Vegas Aces
Wilson is listed as questionable for Tuesday's Commissioner’s Cup Championship against the Liberty with a leg injury after briefly leaving Sunday’s win over Chicago in the fourth quarter with an apparent right ankle injury, and she is now officially on the injury report.
Caitlin Clark - G, Indiana Fever
Sat out Saturday’s game vs Los Angeles after an aggravated back injury that saw her exit the previous game. According to head coach Stephanie White, there's "no indication" on how long Clark will be out. She added the next week off will give Clark some time to get back to 100 percent, with her next chance to play coming July 5
Hailey Van Lith - G, Connecticut Sun
Van Lith missed this weekend’s games due to a left ankle contusion, marking her sixth consecutive absence. She is expected to return on July 2 when the Sun host the Wings.
Odyssey Sims - G, Dallas Wings
Sims did not play on Sunday against the Lynx, as she continues to be ruled out 24 hours before the game with an ankle injury, suggesting limited progress in her recovery. Moving forward, she should be considered week-to-week.
Alanna Smith - C, Dallas Wings
Smith, who is dealing with a concussion, missed Sunday’s game against the Lynx, marking her third consecutive absence. She is expected to return to play on Thursday in Connecticut.
Satou Sabally - F, New York Liberty
Sabally, who is in the league’s concussion protocol, was ruled out for Sunday’s game against Golden State, marking her second consecutive absence. There is no timeline for her return. As a result, 28-year-old forward Sabally’s absence may lead to increased playing time for Pauline Astier and Betnijah Laney-Hamilton.
