As the 2026 WNBA season tips off, the league enters a new era filled with championship expectations, superstar debuts, and just as importantly, major health questions that could shape the standings from day one. Every week, this column will track the injuries that matter most, from lingering offseason recoveries and preseason setbacks to workload management concerns and surprise absences that impact rotations across the league. With contenders already navigating key injuries and others entering opening night fully healthy, availability could once again become one of the defining storylines of the WNBA season.

Kelsey Plum - G, Los Angeles Sparks

Will miss four weeks with a left leg injury, the team announced. She will be re-evaluated at that time. Pro Football Doc Dr. David Chao believes the extensive wrap on Plum's left leg is consistent with a left lateral distal hamstring strain

Caitlin Clark - G, Indiana Fever (Update)

(UPDATE): Clark exited Wednesday's game in the first half and did not return with an aggravated back injury. Clark is probable for Wednesday’s game against Phoenix despite continuing to nurse an ongoing back issue. The superstar guard has not missed a game since May 20 and has scored at least 21 points in six consecutive games, also dishing out at least seven assists on five of those occasions.

Cameron Brink - C, Los Angeles Sparks

Brink, who has already been ruled out for Wednesday’s game against Minnesota, is expected to miss multiple contests due to a left ankle sprain. Head coach Lynne Roberts mentioned that Brink’s absence is not expected to be short-term, indicating that the forward is being evaluated on a week-to-week basis. This situation provides an opportunity for Emma Cannon and Jihyun Park to receive more playing time in the frontcourt temporarily.

Chennedy Carter - G, Las Vegas Aces

Carter has been ruled out for Tuesday’s game against the Liberty due to illness, marking her fourth consecutive absence. Her next opportunity to play will be on Thursday against Dallas. During her absence, Kierstan Bell and Brianna Turner may receive more playing time off the bench.

Ezi Magbegor - C, Seattle Storm

Head coach Sonia Raman announced on Monday that Magbegor, who suffered a right foot injury in April, is progressing well and has moved on to 5-on-5 work. Initially given a 6-to-8-week timetable for recovery, the 26-year-old is now considered week-to-week until the Storm provide another update on her status.
