With the 2026 WNBA season approaching its All-Star break, the race for playoff positioning has come sharply into focus, and so has the league's injury landscape. Every week, this column tracks the injuries that matter most, from lingering recoveries and newly sustained setbacks to workload management decisions and unexpected absences that impact rotations across the league. With the All-Star Game set for July 25 in Chicago, teams are pushing through this final stretch before the break, and as contenders battle through adversity and others work to keep their stars on the floor, player availability continues to be one of the biggest factors shaping the championship race.
Paige Bueckers - G - Dallas Wings
Paige Bueckers left Sunday's Wings-Sparks game after a hard collision with Nneka Ogwumike, who also exited, and she was seen holding her head on the way off the court; head coach Jose Fernandez had no update immediately after the game but said one would come later Sunday. Before exiting, Bueckers had been dominant, and her MVP-caliber second season has helped Dallas jump out to a strong start after a rough 2025. With this game the front half of a back-to-back, there's real concern she could sit out Monday's matchup against the Liberty, which would shift more of the offensive burden onto Arike Ogunbowale and Azzi Fudd.
Angel Reese - F - Atlanta Dream
Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese left Sunday's game against Chicago with a left leg injury after her knee buckled on a jump stop under the basket, causing her to fall while missing a layup; she got up but went down again moments later and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Given the mechanism of the injury, there could be worry for a right knee injury as well. Coach Karl Smesko said Reese appeared to be in a lot of pain during the ensuing timeout but wanted to keep playing given her competitiveness, and the team gave no further update afterward. The injury is a concerning development for Reese, who was named a WNBA All-Star in her first season with Atlanta and currently leads the league with 11.8 rebounds per game and 14 double-doubles this season.
Satou Sabally - F - New York Liberty
Head coach Chris DeMarco announced on Friday that Sabally, who is dealing with a concussion, will be out until the All-Star break. Sabally has already missed six games and is expected to miss at least three more, as the Liberty are carefully managing her recovery.
Aaliyah Edwards - F - Connecticut Sun
Edwards, who was managing a right knee injury, will not return to Sunday’s game against the Phoenix after playing only five minutes. With her absence, Kennedy Burke is expected to receive additional playing time.
Napheesa Collier - F - Minnesota Lynx
Collier has been cleared to resume practicing with the Lynx, as announced by the team on Wednesday. She underwent surgery on both ankles in early January and had an additional operation on her left ankle in March. While she is making progress toward a return, the Lynx have not yet specified a target date.
