Former Oregon State TE Luke Musgrave dominated the senior bowl and the NFL’s scouting combine. At the senior bowl, he was reported to hit a top speed of 20.05 mph. At the combine, he scored a 9.94 Relative Athletic Score (RAS) out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 7 out of 1020 TE from 1987 to 2023.
But Musgrave only played two games in 2022 and 20 games in four years at Oregon State.
In week 2, Musgrave suffered a season-ending left knee injury with 30 seconds left in the game when a defender landed on his twisted leg. Oregon State never discussed the severity of the injury, but Musgrave never returned to action and declared for the NFL draft in Dec.
Musgrave also had a lack of production in 2022. He accumulated 11 catches for 169 yards and one touchdown. He only had 47 catches for 633 yards and two touchdowns in his career.
The 22-year-old 6’6” 252 pound TE has shown all the athletic abilities a scout would want, but the injury history and lack of production could slide him to the second round.
In February, Musgrave’s uncle Bill Musgrave was hired as an offensive assistant on the Cleveland Browns.
The teams that could consider taking Musgrave: The Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Houston Texans.
