Yordan Alvarez Injury: Star Slugger Taken To Atlanta-Area Hospital With Shortness of Breath

Astros' star leftfielder Yordan Alvarez abruptly left tonight's game in the bottom of the fifth inning after experiencing shortness of breath and was taken to an Atlanta hospital for evaluation.

Yordan Alvarez Injury Update

Alvarez was 0-2 with two strikeouts when he darted off the field in the middle of just after fielding a two-out single by Eddie Rosario

The notoriously tight-lipped Astros initially didn't disclose what he was being checked out for.

Houston has yet to announce the length of his absence and Dusty Baker said Alvarez is feeling good and getting examined by the ER doctor.

After a raucous start to the second half of the season, Alvarez is batting .200 with a .563 OPS, one home run, eight RBI, and 21 strikeouts in his last 65 at-bats.

Dusty Baker on Yordan Alvarez: “He’s being analyzed by the doctors. They said all his vitals are good, but he’s feeling normal. He still has to see the ER doctor. He had shortness of breath. Then when they shot the fireworks off, the smoke made it worse."
