Corbin Carroll Suffers Shoulder Injury, Unlikely to Play in All-Star Game

Arizona Diamondbacks rookie right fielder Corbin Carroll suffered a right shoulder injury on a swing and miss in the bottom of the 7th inning.

By video, Carroll suffered a right shoulder subluxation with possible damage to his labrum from the aggressive swing, according to the Pro Baseball Docs.

The 22-year-old rookie was playing in his third game back from a right shoulder injury he suffered on a similar swing on June 29th.

Based on the injury mechanism, the Pro Baseball Docs have serious concerns for his effectiveness the rest of the season.

Carroll will likely require a 10-day IL stint to rest this shoulder injury and wear a shoulder strap upon return. With the MLB All-Star game around the corner, it's likely a long shot for Carroll to participate in the event in his hometown of Seattle.

San Diego Padres Fernando Tatis Jr. star had a similar injury and recovery during the 2021 season, when he missed 32 games with a left shoulder labrum injury.

Tatis was able to adjust his swing and keep two hands on the bat, surprisingly without losing power.

Carroll will have to make a similar adjustment to finish the season.

Even if he can make that adjustment, he will likely require surgery after the season to help prevent future recurrences.

The NL Rookie of the Year favorite is hitting .292 with 18 home runs and 46 RBIs on the season.
