Star German tennis player Alexander Zverev was forced to withdraw from the French Open semi-finals due to an apparent ankle injury suffered during the tie breaker in the second set. By video, Zverev rolls his ankle when attempting to race over and hit an attempt from future Hall-of-Famer Rafael Nadal. The docs at sicscore.com believe the elite tennis player suffered at least a Grade 2 lateral inversion ankle sprain with no associated fracture. No surgery will be required but the injury is extremely hard to play through as the swelling can be too much which is what happen here as Zverev was forced to retire from the tournament. 🎾 #3-ranked tennis player in the world, Alexander Zverev, was forced to withdraw from the #FrenchOpen with this ankle injury. Expect the stud to perform better after Wimbledon as the US Open is over 12 weeks away. Zverev holds a modest SIC score of 86 heading into the grassy courts but will bring a solid score of 95 with him when the Open begins August 29th. Technique wise, this is the reason you slide on clay as he clearly suffered a misstep which caused the off-balance ankle sprain. Zverev is most accomplished on hard courts in his career but has played well on clay before this incident.
