Super Bowl LVII: Chiefs' Kadarius Toney Likely to Play Through Ankle Sprain

Dynamic wideout Kadarius Toney is likely to play in his first Super Bowl despite leaving last Sunday’s contest with a left ankle injury.

By video, Toney suffered an inversion – basketball type – left ankle sprain on his second catch of the game in the first quarter.

The former Giants wideout exited the contest and did not return after being labeled questionable to return.

Given the extra week of recovery before Super Bowl LVII, Toney has a great chance to suit up for the Chiefs third Super Bowl in four seasons.

He currently carries a SIC score of 74, but that number is likely to improve based on his practice reports next week.

While Toney has a great chance to play, he may not have full effectiveness given how much he relies on his ability to cut.

A receiver like Mike Evans could play through an ankle sprain with much greater effectiveness because he relies on his big frame to haul in catches.

Toney relies on speed and quick change of direction, which could be limited if he plays with his ankle taped.

Chiefs vs. Eagles Super Bowl LVII Odds

The Eagles are favored by 1.5 points and the over/under is 50.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
