A disagreement about the ankle injury ultimately led to his shirtless exit from the team in New York. It's an issue that will not be solved without surgery, but is not necessary to fix for non-athletes, Chao said. If Brown's playing days are done, he does not need to get the surgery to live every day life pain-free.“Brown is not ‘crazy’ for saying he wants to sign with a team before getting the surgery,” Chao said, “but many would advise him to get the surgery now and be ready for when a team calls.”The seven-time Pro Bowler was effective in his time with Tampa Bay, finishing with 42 catches for 545 yards and 4 touchdowns in seven games last season.Although many free agent WR targets have already signed, there may still be interest in the former star wideout. Whether his ankle will be ready for the start of the season remains to be seen.
