Why Does Joe Burrow Still have IV in Arm Six Days After Appendectomy?

Quarterback Joe Burrow is back at Bengals training camp with an intravenous catheter still in his arm after last Tuesday’s appendectomy.
There is no clear indication when the quarterback will return to the field, but the Pro Football Docs provided a provided a potential timeline of roughly two weeks.
While Burrow underwent a routine and quick procedure, it is unusual that he is still receiving antibiotics through an IV. This may indicate the appendix was more inflamed than originally thought or the medical staff is being extra cautious, according to Dr. David Chao or ProFootballDoc.
There's no reason to sound the alarm about Burrow’s upcoming availability just yet. It would be concerning, however, if the IV is still in his arm by the end of this week.
Head coach Zac Taylor said the team is taking it day-by-day to decide when the third-year quarterback can resume physical activity.
