Here's Why Otto Porter Is Expected To Miss Game 5 With Left Foot Issue

The Warriors have upgraded versatile forward Otto Porter Jr. to questionable as he attempts to work through left foot soreness ahead of Thursday's potential closeout game.

Otto Porter Jr. Injury Update

Porter Jr. missed Golden State's loss on Tuesday after suffering an apparent foot injury in the first quarter of Game 3.

Based on video of the injury and Porter's previous injury history, the ProBasketballDocs believe he is highly unlikely to play in Game 5.

If this was a regular season game, according to the Docs, the 28-year-old would have a 0% percent chance of suiting up, and the impressive showing from rookies Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody leaves Steve Kerr with productive wings to fill his absence.

While Sports Injury Central can't decipher the specific nature of Porter Jr.'s foot injury, a re-break of his left foot is certainly within the realm of possibility.

The 3-and-D wing missed nearly all of the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons after suffering a small fracture in his left foot on Nov. 9, 2019. He was able to rehab without surgery and returned in March of that season, but the pain from the injury lingered through the next season and he was shut down by the Orlando Magic in April 2021 for the final 24 games.

He missed one-and-a-half games in the second round with a bout of right foot soreness but returned to average 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds on 81.8% shooting in the first two games versus the Mavericks.

Porter Jr.'s availability for the potential Finals series – along with fellow wings Gary Paton II and Andre Iguodala – is still up in the air.

Update

Porter is reportedly expected to miss Game 5 with the left foot issue.

That likely means more minutes for Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga.
