Twins Injury Report: Chris Paddack Moved To 60-Day IL, May Need Second Tommy John

The Twins moved right-handed starter Chris Paddack to the 60-day IL on Thursday as he deals with right elbow inflammation.

Chris Paddack Injury Update

Paddack left Sunday's win over the A's in the third inning with right elbow pain and was placed on the 10-day IL on Tuesday. He will be eligible to return in mid-July.

The 26-year-old was shut down last September with a sprained UCL and received a PRP injection to heal the injury, although he was able to avoid surgery. He said that his current injury is similar to the pain he felt from that 2021 sprain.

Paddack is expected to undergo further imaging and receive a second opinion, but he said that he is prepared to undergo a second Tommy John surgery if he has suffered damage to his UCL.

He underwent his first TJ procedure in 2016 when he was a 20-year-old prospect rising through the Padres' farm system.

Paddack, now in his first season with the Twins, is 1-2 with a 4.03 ERA, 1.209 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts in 22.1 IP.

The Twins, 18-13, have the fourth-best team ERA in MLB at 3.14 while withstanding injuries to three different starting pitchers: Paddack, Sonny Gray, and Bailey Ober.
