Why Stephen Curry Is On Track To Return From Foot Sprain For Playoffs

Warriors' superstar Stephen Curry took to local San Francisco sports radio on Wednesday to update his status as he continues to recover from a March 16th foot sprain.

Curry said on 95.7 The Game that his rehab is a “slow process,” and while he “hasn’t been [taking] crazy leaps everyday,” he feels good about where his left foot is at.

The all-time leader in threes said the goal is to be ready for the Warriors’ first home playoff game on April 16, exactly one month after his injury.

Curry will not play again this regular season, as first reported by The Athletic’s Shayna Rubin, and as of Wednesday is not participating in team practice at full speed. He is out of his walking boot and doing individual shooting workouts in the Warriors’ practice facility.

His timeline tracks the ProBasketballDocs’ analysis at the time of the foot sprain which was that Curry, who has suffered chronic ankle and foot injuries throughout his career, would miss the final 12 games of the regular season and be back for the playoffs.

The team is expected to re-evaluate the 34-year-old at the end of the regular season and decide how to proceed from there.

The Warriors, who clinched a top-4 seed in the playoffs for the first time since 2019, are 50-29 this season and 4-10 without Curry, good for the No. 3 seed in the West.

Golden State has won two games in a row, including a dramatic 16-point fourth-quarter comeback against the Jazz, after losing 6 of its first 7 after Curry’s sprain.

The one silver lining of Curry’s extended absence has been the emergence of shifty guard Jordan Poole. The 3rd-year starter has scored 20-or-more points in 17 consecutive games and is posting averages of 27.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.6 assists on 20.6 shots per game since Curry went down.
