Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry suffered a right inversion ankle injury and is likely to miss a few games, according to our panel of doctors.
The star marksman tried to plant hard on his right foot to stop and pass out of the paint, but his right ankle rolled severely. He limped in an attempt to walk it off before giving way to Chris Paul and heading to the locker room.
Golden States’ next two games are a home-and-home with the San Antonio Spurs with the first game taking place in San Francisco on Saturday and the next on Monday in the Lone Star state.
Curry will likely miss both contests but have a chance to return next Wednesday in Dallas against the Mavericks.
His absence will likely put more pressure on Jonathan Kuminga and Klay Thompson to be the main scoring options, while Moses Moody is likely to get more minutes in the short term.
Curry is averaging 26.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists while shooting 44.9% from the field this season, 40.7% from 3-point range and 92% from the free throw line.
After dropping Thursday’s game against the Bulls by a score of 125-122, the Warriors (33-29) are tied with the Lakers for the ninth spot in the Western Conference. Both teams are 1.5 games back from the Mavericks and 3 games back from the seventh-place Sacramento Kings.
