Pete Carroll told reporters that oft-injured Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny is sitting out the beginning of OTAs with a “slight hamstring issue.”
Penny has spent much of his short career in the medical tent or in street clothes, including missing six games with calf and hamstring injuries last season.
The Seahawks running back stable includes Penny, rookie Kenneth Walker, and veteran Chris Carson, who is coming off of a neck fusion surgery that ProFootballDoc believes he will be recovered from by the beginning of the season.
Penny figures to be the early leader in the clubhouse, but could lose playing time once again if the hamstring ailment lingers.
The former first round pick signed a one-year prove-it deal with the Seahawks after closing the 2021 season with the best stretch of his career. The 26-year-old rushed for 706 and yards and six touchdowns in the final six games and led the NFL with 6.3 yards per attempt.
