The Nationals announced that Stephen Strasburg will take the mound for the first time this season on Thursday against the Marlins.
Strasburg will make his first start since June 1, 2021, after undergoing thoracic outlet surgery last summer to address numerous nerve and soft tissue injuries.
Strasburg has been dominant in three rehab starts, posting a 1.98 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 13.1 IP.
The 2019 World Series MVP couldn't make more than two consecutive starts without suffering a muscle strain or injury setback from in 2020 and 2021, but was able to make three straight starts without issue during his ramp-up period.
The 33-year-old should return to his pre-Thoracic Outlet Syndrome form, according to the ProBaseballDocs, which saw him win 18 games with a 3.32 ERA, 251 strikeouts, and a 1.04 WHIP over 209 IP in 2019.
