Kyle Filipowski Injury Update

Duke sophomore center Kyle Filipowski suffered a right knee injury during a collision with a Wake Forest fan who stormed the court after Duke’s upset loss on Saturday.
By video, Filipowski suffered a right knee hyperextension that appeared minor, according to our panel of docs. With some luck, he should be able to return for the March 2 matchup against Virginia.
The key to his return will be which ligaments were stretched when his knee hyperextended.
Fortunately, the seven-foot center does not need a ton of mobility to be effective. He will likely return with a brace much quicker than if he was a guard.
In response to the incident, head coach John Scheyer asked for an end to the court storm.
Wake Forest athletic director John Currie said in a statement that he reached out to Duke personnel to apologize and is in agreement with Scheyer’s request to end the court storm.
“I am in complete agreement that something more must be done about the national phenomenon of court and field storming and Wake Forest looks forward to being a part of those conversations,” Curries said.”
Duke, ranked #8 in the country prior to Saturday’s loss, faces Louisville at home on Wednesday before Virginia comes to visit Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
The Blue Devils have one game each against NC State and UNC left on the schedule before the ACC tournament.
Filipowski is averaging 16.9 points, 8.2 boards and 2.8 assists while shooting 50% from the field and 34.4% from 3 this season.
