How NFL players try to stay warm in freezing games | Pro Football Doc Breakdown - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJs6QQ8AVOc
Ahead of the coldest game in NFL history, Dr. David Chao broke down some tricks players have used over the years to stay ready for action.
Those included:
Drinking warm chicken broth on the sidelines instead of Gatorade or water
Putting hand warmers in their cleats
Going sleeveless but with a layer of Vaseline smeared on the arms
The temperature at gametime is forecasted to be a low of -9 and a high of 8 with a wind chill potentially as low as -25.
Even though this is the coldest game Miami has ever played in, it’s too simplistic to say it will only affect them and not the Kansas City Chiefs.
Both rosters feature a fair amount of players from warm weather areas who have likely only played a handful of games in frigid conditions.
Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa told reporters this week that he will not wear gloves despite the cold. “The whole thing is a mindset,” he said.
