The Atlanta Falcons veteran defensive lineman Grady Jarrett is in the midst of recovering from an ACL tear suffered during the first defensive series in Week 8 against the Tennessee Titans. Before this injury, he had started every game since the 2019 season, showcasing his durability and consistent performance.
The recovery timeline for such an injury is projected to be around nine months, which would leave him in good shape to return this July. Given his importance to the team and the nature of his injury, the Falcons are likely to be cautious and not push their longtime veteran too early in camp, which starts on July 24.
As a result, he is expected to play limited snaps, if at all, in the preseason. The team's primary focus will be on ensuring he is ready for Week 1 of the regular season.
It is not likely that he will be his usual consistent self at the start of the season, as he will need time to work himself back into game shape and regain his pre-injury form. The initial stages of his return might see a decrease in his typical level of play as he gradually builds confidence and strength in his knee.
Despite this, the veteran lineman is expected to contribute significantly as the season progresses, particularly with a strong push towards the end of the season.
While his sack numbers may drop in 2024 due to the early part of his recovery, his presence and experience will still be valuable to the Falcons' defense. His performance is likely to improve as he continues to recover and adjust, ultimately helping the team in critical moments as they aim for a successful season.
