Mike Trout was left off of the Angels' lineup for the second consecutive day as he nurses left groin tightness.
Trout was included on Phil Nevin's lineup card as a right-handed batter, according to Orange County Register's Jeff Fletcher, so he will ostensibly be available as a pinch-hitter.
The 30-year-old left Tuesday's game after appearing to tweak his groin while running out of the box on a double.
The Angels will likely continue to slow-play his return, the ProBaseballDocs say. He has yet to be placed on the IL, as the Angels have decided to take a wait-and-see approach that gives them the chance to retroactively place him if the injury doesn't improve heading into the weekend.
Trout said after the game on Tuesday he already felt better.
Neither the Angels nor Trout are overly concerned about the injury, so much so that they didn't send him to get an MRI on Wednesday, and he is listed as day-to-day.
After they finish a four-game set against the Red Sox, the Angels – who have lost 14 in a row – will head to New York to face the Mets.
