Aces Injury Report: When Will Aces' Guard Jackie Young Return From Ankle Sprain?

The WNBA-best Las Vegas Aces ruled out point guard Jackie Young for Sunday's game with a right ankle sprain.

Jackie Young Injury Update

Young, the 10-2 Aces' leading scorer at 19.2 points per game, suffered the sprain on a drive in the fourth quarter of their loss to the Connecticut Sun on Friday night.

Young stayed in the game to take two free throws before leaving the contest.

According to the ProBasketballDocs, Young suffered a moderate lateral inversion sprain.

While Young hasn't suffered any serious sprains during her four years in the WNBA, she repeatedly sprained her right ankle while playing at Notre Dame.

Because this is not her first sprain, there was likely little new damage, and she could return by the middle of the month.

Head coach Becky Hammon said she expects the injury to keep her out for around a week.

After Sunday's win over the Dallas Wings, Las Vegas doesn't play again until next Saturday, June 11, against the Sparks.

They only play two games between June 12 and June 19, and Young has a good chance of returning over that stretch, depending on the level of swelling.

The former No. 1 overall pick has performed at an MVP level for the Aces under new head coach Hammon, who has helped turn the Aces into an offensive juggernaut.

Young is fourth in the league in scoring, fourth in true shooting percentage, and first in win shares and Las Vegas is first in points, rebounds, made three-pointers and three-point shooting, second in assists, and is committing the fewest turnovers in the league.
