Jaime Jaquez Jr., UCLA's star guard/forward, suffered a right ankle inversion sprain in the second half against Saint Mary's.The 21-year-old junior was injured on a rebound and immediately left to the locker room. He later returned to the bench with his right shoe off and ice around his ankle.Despite, the injury the ProBasketballDocs project that Jaquez will play in UCLA's next game this upcoming Friday.Given the injury mechanism and his previous ankle injuries, he should be available for the Bruin's Sweet Sixteen matchup against University of North Carolina.Jaquez has battled through sprains to each ankle for most of the season. He sprained the same right ankle on January 7 and played against Saint Mary's with his right ankle heavily wrapped.Jaquez' previous ankle sprain likely prevented the new sprain from causing much new damage to his ankle. The worry for ankle sprains is the overnight swelling, but that shouldn't be an issue given the old sprain.UCLA also has five rest days before taking on UNC.Jaquez had 15 points, 1 rebound and 2 assists before exiting the win over Saint Mary's. He had 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists in the first round win over Akron.Jaquez has averaged 14 points (second on the team) and 5.9 rebounds (most on the team) this season.
