Harper missed 21 games last year with a bruised left wrist, right shoulder pain and a back issue. He has started the season 1 of 13 with 2 walks and 1 strikeout. He hit .309 with 35 HRs and 84 RBIs in his MVP season.Although no specifics have come out yet, any elbow/throwing arm injury is concerning.Harper signed a 13-year, $330 million contract with the Phillies in 2019. UpdateHarper finished the game and remained in the outfield. After the game, manager Joe Girardi told reporters that Harper's elbow is OK. Despite the scary moment for Phillies fans, this seems to be a case of hurt, not injured. The throw itself was a high-torque throw with Harper's momentum carrying him to the left.He was checked out in the clubhouse and allowed to remain in the game, indicating the team is not worried about structural damage to his elbow. If he had torn or damage his UCL significantly, the throw would not have made it to the plate. Harper may miss a game or two, but the ProBaseballDocs do not expect it to be a long-term issue for the star right fielder.
