The Syracuse Orange started the season undefeated after their first six games. But they’ve fallen short in their last two games because of injuries to key positions.Syracuse coach Dino Babers said at his weekly press conference last Monday that he can’t discuss QB Garrett Shrader’s injury in depth. But he’s been fully cleared to play by the team’s medical staff this weekend and has participated in practices this week. But, against Notre Dame, it is evident that he was still injured. Before leaving the game in the second quarter, Shrader was 5-of-14 for 35 yards (35.7%). And worst of all, he only rushed the ball two times after running the ball a combined 37 times in the previous two weeks.Another tragic injury Syracuse has faced is starting CB Garrett Williams with a torn ACL. This effectively ended his season as Syracuse’s top defensive back. This makes the fourth starter Syracuse has lost this season due to injury.Williams was having a tremendous season making 36 tackles, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, one recovery, and two interceptions. He led all Syracuse defensive backs in tackles, and his two interceptions were tied for second.Williams was projected to get drafted last season but returned to raise his profile. This will be another debate of whether it is worth it to come back to school or declare as soon as possible.Syracuse vs. Pitt Week 10 OddsPitt is favored by 3.5 points at home against Syracuse, and the over/under is 48.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. For injury-based picks throughout the season, sign up for SIC Picks here. Please click on our College Football Doc page for updates on Ohio State’s opponent.
